The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta led by the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shamed members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President John Dramani Mahama following the announcement of the new measures to shore up the ailing economy of the country.

According to the Director of Communications of the NPP, Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa the members and Mr. Dramani Mahama should be ashamed of themselves for wrongly accusing the government of President Akufo-Addo of collapsing the economy.
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Thursday, March 24, 2022, Mr. Asamoa on behalf of the NPP commended the government on the measures put out by the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta to mitigate the issues around stabilizing the economy.
According to him these measures covering expenditure cuts, revenue-boosting, fuel prices, and cedi management require all Ghanaians to get on board and support to secure some relief.
"Meanwhile, we need to be conscious that if the Russian/Ukraine war persists and Covid-19 lingers on, the difficulties will continue to be with us.
Unfortunately, the NPP noted that instead of appreciating where we are as a nation, the NDC Covid-19 Task Force has been reduced to picketing.
The NPP asserted that they are genuinely surprised at the self-serving intent of the NDC to picket at the Kotoka International Airport against Covid-19 protocols when the pandemic is not over.
According to the NPP,  since the outbreak of the pandemic over two years ago, Covid19 protocols, guidelines, and mandates have been regularly monitored, evaluated, and reviewed to ensure effective management.
It said that this is how the people of Ghana have been kept largely safe to the point where there are only 90 active cases and nine new recorded cases today.
"It’s ironic that the NDC’s so-called Covid19 Advisory Team, who have barely uttered a word for over a year, and its idle MPs have suddenly found their voices.
It asserted that after initially questioning the key COVID-19 measures taken by the government, including the reopening of schools, every fair-minded Ghanaian realized how vacuous John Mahama’s COVID-19 advisers were, adding "Now picketing is their last card. How pathetic."
The NPP stated that the NDC tends to try diverting national attention whenever the Government embarks on serious measures to deal with national issues.
"We will continue to manage covid in partnership with key stakeholders, with the guidance and advice of competent, tried, and tested health professionals and experts.  We will not be side-tracked by quacks, masquerades, drama-kings, and attention-seekers," the party noted.
