Spurs have announced that defender, Eric Dier has penned down a four-year deal.

The English international has made a total of 239 appearances for the club and scored 11 times since he joined the Premier League club from Sporting Lisbon in July 2014

He is a starter under manager, Jose Mourinho having featured 15 times since the Portuguese took over as head coach.

“We are delighted to announce that Eric Dier has signed a new contract with the club which will run until 2024,” the statement revealed.

Dier's versatile defensive player switched from defense to a holding midfield role in his second season with us, establishing himself as an integral member of the team and earned his first caps for England.

More recently, he has impressed playing back in the center of defense for the team and has now amassed He has also gone on to earn a total of 40 caps for England, captaining the national team on several occasions and was also part of the squad that finished fourth at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where he memorably scored the decisive spot-kick to give England a first-ever World Cup penalty shootout win in the last 16 against Colombia.

 

 

“I am really happy to continue here and commit to this new journey we’re on,” Dier told Spurs TV.

“It’s crazy to think that I have been here for six years now, I have enjoyed it a lot. It’s a fantastic place to be.”

“The club gave me my opportunity in England and it has given me so much since then,” he added.

“We’ve had some great times together but I want to have even better times and I still feel there are a lot of things I need to achieve here before it’s over.”
