Spurs forward Son Heung-min wheels away to celebrate after giving his side the lead at Turf Moor

Son Min Heung scored the only goal for Spurs in their clash against Burnley at the Turf Moor on Monday night.

The win moves Spurs to fifth place with 11 points, two off the lead, while Burnley lie 18th.

It was just a solitary change for Burnley following the goalless draw at West Brom last time out. The only change came at the back with the fit-again Matt Lowton replacing Erik Pieters at right-back.

From last Sunday’s Premier League draw with West Ham there were four changes, with Doherty and Moura joined in the starting line-up by Eric Dier and Ben Davies. Gareth Bale is still yet to make his full Premier League debut as he became an unused substitute in the game.

Spurs had the first chance when Alderweireld floated a delightful ball over the Burnley defence that releases Kane in behind. Tarkowski could only watch as the Spurs striker brought the ball down, and the flight of the ball came to the Clarets' rescue, dragging Kane wide as he scooped a shot into the arms of Pope.

The Burnley goalkeeper later breathed a huge sigh of relief as his poor clearance from the back hit Son on the edge of the box. The home team's goal was wide open yet Son failed to score from a distance as Lowton bundled him to ground before he could get a shot away.

Jose Mourinho’s men continued to dominate yet the Clarets were hard to break down and Spurs had to play sharper football.

Burnley looked more threatening than Tottenham in the second half in terms of getting the first goal although it wasn’t great for either team in terms of goalscoring opportunities.

The home side were presented with a great opportunity 15 minutes into the second half when Davies' wayward pass gifted Burnley possession in the final third. It's pounced on by Brownhill, who drove into space and got a shot away, but it was dragged wide off target.

Harry Kane denied Burnley the opening goal in the 71-minute when Westwood whipped in a corner and it's met with a firm Tarkowski header. His effort flashed past Lloris, but Kane had other ideas and was in the right place at the right time to head off the line.

Six minutes later, Son got the winning goal for Spurs, assisted by Kane.

The Spurs captain had his head to a corner, keeping it alive with a near-post flick-on which reached Heung-min Son. The Korean headed Tottenham into the lead from six yards.

It was the 29th Premier League goal the pair have combined for with only Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard having more.
