Bamford celebrate opening goal against Villa

It was a magnificent away day for Leeds United and Patrick Bamford as he scored his first Premier League hat trick to end Aston Villa’s unbeaten run on Friday night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side started the game brilliantly with some one-touch neat passes within the Villa area as they made it tough for the home side to contain the forwards. A huge chance occurred in the 4-minute when Alioski sent a darting cross into the area from the left-wing. He was a way out and made the delivery more impressive.

Bamford waited in the middle but his diving header was sent wide of the upright. After failure to convert the chances presented for Rodrigo and Bamford, Jack Villa drove down the left and tried to clip the ball back into the area, but his effort went straight into the hands of the waiting Meslier.

Ayling was at the right spot to save Leeds from conceding a goal after Villa the Leeds captain gave the ball away in the first place. Trezeguet sent Watkins' cross through to Grealish. And the Villa captain hit a wonderful ball towards the net but Ayling got back onto his line to hammer the effort off the line.

After a huge save from Meslier in the second half following Grealish corner headed by Konso before an acrobatic save was activated, the visitors broke out and found the net.

Harrison picked out the run of Rodrigo into the area. His effort was initially palmed away by Martinez, but Bamford lurked to slot home the loose ball to become the second player to score in each of Leeds United's opening three away games in a top-flight league season.

The 27-year old scored his second in the 67-minute. Klich burst through the midfield with a driving run before finding Bamford at the top of the area. He set himself up into some space before lifting a lovely effort into the back of the net.

Seven minutes later, the Englishman completed his hat trick when he found himself surrounded by four Villa defenders in the yard, after collecting a pass from Costa. He shifted foot and curled the ball in the far corner on the left.

They move to third with ten points whiles Aston Villa stays second on 12 points.
