Ghana now have one point and are third behind leaders Egypt (6 points) and Cameroon (4 points).

The defeat has choked the Black Meteors in a very difficult position and Ghana can only qualify if they beat Mali who are already eliminated and look up to Egypt to tie the loose ends against Cameroon.

Black Meteors first scored in the sixth minute with captain Yaw Yeboah firing the ball from close range.

Egypt equalized in the seventeenth minute through striker Moustafa after heading home Ahmed Mohammed’s cross.

Ghana came back on top, few minute into the second half, through Samuel Obeng. He capitalized on a weak back pass from Egypt centre-back Mohammed Abdelsalam to round the goalkeeper and put the ball into the back of the net.

Again Egypt equalized in the eighty-second minute through Sobhi rebound after poor goalkeeping from Kwame Baah.

The Olympic Pharaohs piled pressure on the Ghanaians until they scored a third through Rayyan. He rose high to head home a Sobhi corner in the eighty-eighth minute.

Black Meteors put in much effort to level the scores in the last-minute but the Egyptians defended very well to claim the three points and qualified for the semi-finals.

Ghana will play the final group game against the already-eliminated Mali on Thursday.

This tournament is the final leg of qualifiers to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The top three finishers will represent Africa in Japan.
