Vestergaard celebrates late equalizer against Chelsea

Chelsea and Southampton played a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge following Vestergaard’s stoppage-time header.

All Chelsea's three goals were scored by new arrivals - two from Werner and an assist for Kai Havert.

Timo Werner scored the game’s first goal in the 15-minute after Chilwell delivered an intelligent pass towards the German with Bednarek on his back. He brilliantly dummied and turned the defender and drove into the box, danced past a couple of challenges before shooting for the bottom left corner through a crowd, and scored.

He doubled the scores 14-minutes later after he was released very early by Jorginho, with a long ball over the top. After getting to the goal side of Bednarek in the box, he did brilliantly lift the ball over McCarthy and finished it off with a header into the empty net.

Danny Ings later pulled a goal back before the half time, rounding Kepa after receiving Adams slipped in pass and slotted into the empty net.

Southampton came levelled in the 59-minute when Kepa’s howler from a Zouma’s back pass was punished by Adams in the 57-minute. The Spaniard missed the ball when he rushed out for an encounter.

Ings was at an angle, Christensen did his best to block on the line, but Adams took over and slammed into the roof of the net.

Havertz quickly got the Blues back up two minutes later. Werner got space on the right of the box and spotted Havertz running far post. He found him with a lovely square ball, and Havertz turned into the goal from close range.

Yet in the second minute of added time, Theo Walcott's shot was glanced in by Vestergaard to lift Saints to 10th on seven points.
