If the government refuses to intervene, the civil war in the north could spill over here.

Chief of Salom near Sege in the Greater Accra Region's Ada West District and patron of the Ada Senghor Lagoon Association, Nene Dadebom Anim II, has claimed that inhabitants in and around the Songhor Lagoon need not fear Electrochem Ghana Limited or his people.

Electrochem Ghana Limited, he argues, has enslaved them by preventing them from defending, protecting, and sustaining their livelihood through the use of thugs, land guards, and the Ghana Police Service.

He went on to state that the Association is prepared to fight for and protect the rights of any Ada local who depends on the Songhor Lagoon for survival.

He indicated that if the police follow their processes, Manklalo and Obikyere should be caught and prosecuted, as well as with the investigation.

"If the government refuses to intervene, the civil war in the north could spill over here," he said.

As a result, he advised that the material being disseminated was not only inaccurate, unsupported, and unjustified, but also mischievous and fantastical conjectures with no proof and that it should be ignored and treated with respect.

He explained, "My people of Salom and other citizens living within the Songhor Lagoon enclaves occurred to be victims of MacDan land guards and Ghana Police Service”.

"By time immemorial, customs and traditions of the people of Ada as recognized in various judicial decisions of the court of Gold Coast and Ghana, the true owners of the Songhor Lagoon has been and is still the people of Terkpebiawe Clan of Ada," he stated in a response letter to the Minister of Land and Forest dated 28th March 2002 to inform the government of the right owners of the Songhor Lagoon. So, after 20 years, why is the Traditional Council saying something else?"
