Ejurahene Has Appreciated The President For Compensating Slain Families In Ejura

Ejurahene has commended Nana Addo for compensating for families who were slain during the Ejura disturbances.

President Akuffo - Addo has fulfilled his promise as he compensates the families of the two youth who were killed during the Ejura disturbances in the Ashanti Region.

Government through the Deputy Minister for the Interior Naana Eyiah Quansah on Saturday, February 5, handed over a cheque of ¢250,000 to each family totaling ¢500,000.

The victims, Abdul Nasir Yussif and Mutala Suraj Mohammed died when they sustained gunshot wounds during a protest.

Four of the protesters sustained various degrees of injury in the shooting which is said to have been fired by soldiers during the protest.

A three-member committee that was set up to investigate the matter recommended a compensation package for the affected victims and their families.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to present the cheques to the families, the Deputy Minister for Interior Naana Eyiah Quansah said the presentation was made in fulfillment of a promise made by the government.

She disclosed that measures are in place to settle the injured victims as well.

Adding that, the victims who were wounded will be examined by doctors to find out their current state, so they know the cost involved for treatment then they tackle it from there the deputy minister stressed.

Meanwhile, the Ejurahene Barima Osei Hwedie 11 is impressed with the kind gesture. He thanked the president on behalf of the families and Ejuraman for fulfilling the promise.

"some towns had gone through instances like ours and are yet to be assisted or compensated hence we are grateful to the government for fulfillment the Ejurahene said".

It could be recalled that social media activist Ibrahim Mohammad known as Kaaka was attacked by an unknown assailant on June 26, 2021. Kaaka lost his life on June 28, 2021, at the Komfo Anokye teaching hospital Monday.

In a bid for some Ejura youth to seek justice for Kaaka after he passed on turned bloody between youth and the security personnel which lead to the loss of two lives with four injuries.
