According to artist manager Bulldog, Ghanaian musicians are not receiving as much support for their songs on major streaming services because of the high cost of data and inadequate internet availability in the nation.

Bulldog argues that although Ghanaians are naturally supportive of national artists, the country's pricey data plans and erratic internet service provide major barriers to the expansion of music streaming for regional artists.

Bulldog, who is well-known for representing a number of prominent Ghanaian musicians, including some of the biggest names in the business, brought up the fact that most of the music that Ghanaian musicians release is streamed outside.

"These are the facts, let's talk about the matters. Once you check your streams, you'll see that everything is external. If you check, the cost of data is the reason we don't stream our songs. The majority of the artists' streams, if their analytics are accurate, come from outside Ghana, from Ghanaians who are dispersed throughout the country."

"Let's imagine that someone is lounging in another location and wants to stream music; the device won't even stream, and you won't see any kpa—your 10 cedi worth of data is gone. Who's going to give that a try?"

"No one is listening to your songs while sitting in Tarkwa or any other location with poor network service. As you can see, Accra serves as the hub, and everyone travels there in search of something. "How many will be using music streaming services?" he said in a recent TV3 interview.
