Dormaa Forest Guards Arrests Four Illegal Lumbermen

Guards of the Dormaa Forest Commission have arrested four illegal Chainsaw operators in the Mpameso Forest reserve in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region.

The four lumbermen were arrested by the forest service guards together with the security services when the suspects were operating in the Mpameso Forest.

The suspects include Gideon Yeboah 34, Kyere Kwaku 42, Gabriel Kyere 21, and Kyeremeh Peter 29 years respectively.

In addition to the arrest, two chainsaw Machines were confiscated while the suspects were handed over to the Dormaa Divisional Police Command for prosecution.

The District Manager of Dormaa Forest, Mr. Ebenezer Mensah confirming the news to the media stated that they had a tip-off that a gang of illegal Chainsaw operators mostly invaded in the Mpameso Forest, where they usually operated in the night and that led to the apprehension.

Mr. Ebenezer Mensah consequently appealed to the Chiefs, Assembly members, individuals residing along the forest to help fight against illegal Chainsaw operation.
