Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central has described as ‘inappropriate’ the comparisons being made between Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and running mate of the NDC, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang

Kennedy Agyapong speaking on Net 2 TV said the two can’t be compared due to the high standards of Dr. Bawumia.

The Assin Central legislator said, Prof Opoku-Agyemang should rather be compared to the Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, due to her history as a former Minster in the sector.

According to Mr Agyapong, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang has not reached the standards of Dr Bawumia because she has only served as an Education Minister.

"We will bring her record. When she became Education Minister. You cannot compare the woman to the Vice President because he’s the sitting Vice President who has done so well. If you look at the history of Ghana and all the old Presidents we have had, it’s only President Akufo-Addo who has given the Vice President chance to shine and you know Dr. Bawumia is intelligent so he has shined.”

“So now when you come with a woman and you think the woman will brighten your political fortunes you are lying, you cannot win. We are not comparing Jane Naana to Bawumia, we are comparing her to NAPO. So you have to look at what NAPO has done as Education Minister then you assess what she did as Education Minister then you can tell if she will be a competent Vice President to help Mahama.”

Prof Opoku-Agyemang was named running mate to John Mahama a move that has recieved a lot of applauds from feminist societies.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang will partner John Mahama as they battle President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2020 elections.
