Minister of Education

Academic work at the Dodo Fie D-A Junior.High.School. in the Kedjebi District of the Oti Region has come to a standstill for over a decade.

The school was closed down in 2008 after 15 candidates who represented the school in 2008, BECE exams woefully failed in its first attempt.

The development led parents to enroll their wards in other schools which is about 4km away from Dodo Fie.

Dodo Fie D-A Junior High School HS then witnessed low enrollment until the school was finally closed down.

After the closure, structures on the school’s compound have been abandoned and taken over by bats and other reptiles.

Authorities from the then Volta and the current Oti Region and District officers have not visited the school to assess the situation and nothing has been done to address the situation.

Traditional authorities are worried about the development in the school since it impedes the educational activities in the community.

A visit to the 3unit classroom blocks with two staff common rooms and office of the headteacher was captured with cracks, broken office furniture, rotten textbooks, plywood, and other damages.

Assemblyman for Dodo Fie electoral area, Hon. Aziagah Philip lamented over the years eyeing for a solution.

In an interview with Daily Ghanaian Guide’s reporter Evans Manasseh, he noted that the closure has not happened at his time but has been trying to get the situation remedied through the media.

According to him, the poverty rate in the community is unbelievable and has since forced most children to drop out of school to search for money.

Suggesting measures that will influence children to come back to school in their numbers, he pleaded with the government to introduce its feeding program in the community to attract and cut down some costs on parents, which he believes would help bring hope and light back into the school.
