DJ Ashmen has condemned the act of giving awards to DJ Switch.

According to him, it is a grave slap on the face of other DJ's if someone that cannot leave her house after 10 pm is winning awards in the same category that hardworking DJ's who work overnight are in.

He maintained that the real work of a Disc Jockey is to turn up the club.

In his argument, he noted how DJ Switch will continue to win these awards as long as the category is open for voting because the fans would naturally want to support a child DJ out of sentiment instead of voting for the DJ's that actually do the work.

This comes after the young DJ bagged the Best DJ of the year in 2019 and the Young DJ of the Year in 2020.

DJ Ashmen thinks that she should be allowed to grow older and gain more experience before she can be given awards by the Ghana DJ Awards.

While speaking in an exclusive interview to Elsie Lamar on Talkertainment, DJ Ashmen outlined that his stance is not one of jealousy but one that protects DJ Switch too.

“She may be getting the highest votes so automatically she can win. But if an award scheme like Ghana DJ awards wants to measure the success of a DJ by the experience, then I don’t think she stands a chance. Because she was is in the same category with grown and experienced DJ’s.to me, they can do something about it by checking the person's experience rather than votes.”

“With someone like DJ Switch, she is not even supposed to go out at 10: pm. If you go to the club and every other place that DJ’s operate at night, you won’t be allowed if you’re under 18 years old. It's child labour. Her parents should watch it because as it stands.”
