David Luiz red card received at the Molineux still stands.

The Arsenal defender was given his marching orders in the midweek Premier League 2-1 defeat to Wolves, a game which saw two red card following another send-off in the person of Bernd Leno in the second half.

David Luiz Luis was quick to make his feeling known on social media as he had the backing of ex-Chelsea and England captain Terry writing on social media, “Never a red card! Double jeopardy.”

Mikel Arteta during his pre-match duties revealed the necessity of trying to get the decision overturned by the Football Association.

“I am very hopeful, that’s why we put the appeal in because we went through all the images and we think that the red card should be overruled. That is why we put in the appeal,” Arteta said.

TalkSPORTS reports that Arsenal have been told that their decision has been upheld by the FA.

“We have worked really hard to overturn David Luiz's red card. We presented our case to the FA but are disappointed that our appeal has been unsuccessful,” a statement read.

“We accept the FA's decision and continue our preparations for Saturday's match against Aston Villa.”
