IT HAS EMERGED that a heavy storm has nearly trapped three hundred (300) people traveling with boat on the Volta Lake from the  overbank communities to Yeji, the capital city of Pru East District in the Brong Ahafo Region to register their names in the ongoing limited voters registration conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
According to the information available to Soireenews.com, the individuals travel on the Volta Lake without life jackets putting their lives in danger but many people blamed the predicaments on the current leadership of the EC headed by Madam Jean Adukwei Mensah.
 
Despite the danger associated with travelling without life jackets, many still travel on the Volta Lake to and fro from Yeji to overbank communities.
Following this heart threatening development, some concerned citizens of the Pru East Constituency have expressed their anger about the ongoing Electoral Commission,'s Limited Voters Registration Exercise.
They kicked against the decision of the leadership of the EC to do the exercise at only the offices of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs). 
Knowing the dangers of traveling on the Volta Lake during the rainy season, cost and time constraint to do the exercise, they appealed to the EC to extend the exercise to their locality for comfortability. 
According to them, about Three hundred (300) people from Miawani, Cherepo Ayimaye, Kidokope, Konkonse, Vutideke, Accra Town and their environs joined one Boat to journey to Yeji, the Pru East District capital to register their names in ongoing limited registration on last Friday 
On their way to Yeji, they pointed out that about half of the journey. They realize the a sudden change in weather; cloud are gathering. Utmost fear and panic sets in due to a heavy storm that could trap them on the Lake. 
According to them, the registrants needed an emergency land but the Lake has overflown it banks making it difficult to land. They continue their uncomfortable journey with much in much agony. 
"Much calls came in to the expertise on the Volta Lake to come to their aid. God has been so good to them granting them a safer arrival and in about few minutes after their their landing at the Yeji Harbour, the storm started very bad. It was all tears of joy. 
In an interview with the captain of the the Boat, he explained how they experienced this though journey risking their lives for the Limited Voter Registration. 
The group said " we have come, we don't know where to sleep, what to eat, when all of us will have our registration, days we will spend here and the cost involved". Thanks to the NDC and the Parliamentary Candidate Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, they hired a boat for our journey. They have also come to our aid to acomodate us, feed us till we're all registered. 
      
The Parliamentary Candidate of NDC for 2024, Honourable Emmanuel Kwaku Boam was seen busing the people with his car together with other cars who were also assisting the group. In an interview with the PC, the group are the very people who stay far away over banks of the Volta Lake due to their occupation. They needed to register and vote but EC decided to disenfranchise them 
"That's why i'm doing everything possible as the PC and the great NDC to support them register " he said 
He added thankful to God for when the weather changed and the clouds have gathered, he was in dismay because the calls reached him also about the group on the Lake. 
"Supposing the storm trapped them on the Lake, we will have blamed the EC because their behavior towards the exercise is totally bad and unacceptable," he noted.
