Dakpema Palace Marks Remembrance Day

Dakpema Palace Marks Remembrance Day

Tamale Dakpema, Naa Bawa Fuseini, and his sub-chiefs have marked the annual remembrance day of the Tamale Dakpema skin.

The purpose of Remembrance Day is to share the importance of the Dakpema skin and for family members to familiarize themselves with each other.

They also used the occasion to throw more light and educate the general public on how the Dakpama Skin came into being.

The day also was set aside to discuss the future of the Tamale traditional area.

Several personalities who graced the event include sub-chiefs within the Tamale traditional area, sons and daughters, members of the Tamale Dakpamli family, and friends.

Tamale Dakpema, Naa Bawa Fuseini whose speech was read on his behalf by Mr. Wulana Bia said the Dakpema palace is the center of civilization that embodies peace and development.

According to him, the first Tamale Dakpema, Naa Dahamani in 1907 accepted the whites (British) to settle in Tamale to carry out their activities and that makes the palace an embodiment of civilization.

He added that the same Naa Dahamani named the Metropolis Tamale.

On behalf of the chiefs, he expressed the palace's commitment to work with other developmental organizations, planners, and decision-makers to promote development within the Tamale metropolis and beyond.
