Bogoso Explosion: It's Said, Unfortunate And Tragic Incident - Akufo Addo

President Nana Akufo Addo has solidarized with the people of Bogoso in the Western Region over this afternoon explosion which has led to the death of many.

Commenting on the incident in a statement, the President on behalf of the government extended his deep condolences to the families of the deceased.

“I have just received a briefing on the circumstances that led to an explosion in Opiate near Bogoso, in the Western Region, resulting in the loss of lives and the destruction of properties belonging to residents. It is a truly sad, unfortunate, and tragic incident, and I extend, on behalf of the Government, deep condolences to the families of the deceased, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery". He noted.

According to him, government agencies have been instructed to offer the needed attention to the victims.

“I have just received a briefing on the circumstances that led to an explosion in Opiate near Bogoso, in the Western Region, resulting in the loss of lives and the destruction of properties belonging to residents. The Police, Armed Forces, and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are coordinating efforts to contain the situation, and I have also instructed NADMO to see to it that rapid relief is brought to residents of the town. 

The government will spare no effort to ensure a rapid return to a situation of normalcy for residents of Opiate.” ~ 

Ghana Police statement revealed that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.

These according to the police resulted in the explosion, causing the death of scores of people.

It has also been indicated that many residents at Bogoso have sustained serious degrees of injuries.

As the nature of the incident, Soireenews cannot establish the number of deaths.

The victims are currently receiving treatment at the various hospitals in the area.
