Court bans all NDC protests in Accra

The Accra Regional Police command has secured a court injunction against the NDC from further protesting against the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Ade Coker  had written to the police notifying them of their intension of stating series of demonstrations against the EC from December 20th – to January 10, 2021

But the police said the request by the opposition cannot be granted.

“The request by the NDC can not obviously be met by the police in view of ongoing post-election and multifaceted security operations for the festive season and beyond”

“The Regional Police Command is hereby drawing the attention of the general public especially sympathizers, followers, and supporters of the NDC, to the restriction order and compliance” part of the statement read.

The NDC has challenged the results of some constituencies, winning the Sene West case in court against the governing New Patriotic Party.

The flagbearer of the party, John Mahama, has not conceded to defeat after he described the 2020 presidential results as a ‘stolen verdict’.
