A man in his 40’s has reportedly been beaten to death at Konkori by cops in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.

The death according to the deceased’s mother occurred at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Narrating the ordeal on Kwame Tanko’s Angel in the morning Show, the deceased known as Kwabena Tweneboah Kodua works as a security man for a mineral water company at Konkori. According to the woman whose name was not disclosed, her son was observing the lockdown directive by the President of Ghana amidst the coronavirus when he heard noise of commotion outside his room, closer to the roadside.

The deceased, Kwabena Tweneboah took a glance from the front gate of their home and was grabbed by the police for failing to observe the lock down measures but he denied the allegations levied against him.

He got into physical confrontation with the Police and was pounded by the angry security personnel. He went unconscious for some time and later woke up yet the plea by his mother and other relatives to let go of him for treatment from the bruises did not persuade the officers from handing over her son who was put in cuffs.

The undisclosed mother made known that the police claimed that Tweneboah was caught smoking weed and informed the family of putting him behind bars at the Kumasi Central Police Station so they drove him away.

“The following day, I was called on phone that my son has been admitted at the Kotwi hospital. I was surprised why he ended at the hospital instead of being in a police cell for no wrong done. I got ready and when I arrived at the hospital, the policemen were there," she narrated.

“One of the officers informed me that my son fell from their car and had his head injured whiles they were transporting him to the Central Police station. Infact, I was stunned to see my son in that situation.

The mother further explained that Tweneboah was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and according to report, he was affected by the brutality and has suffered internal bleeding.

The death was confirmed on Wednesday and per the mother’s narrated account, the assailants have not been spotted since.

The mother made known that she was on her way with a few family members to report the incident at the Central Police Station.
