Due to "complex production issues," Travis Scott's concert at the Giza Pyramids was formally cancelled two days before it was scheduled to take place, according to the event's promoter Live Nation.

The rapper had earlier declared that he will conduct a livestream of the unveiling of his new album, "Utopia," from the Egyptian Pyramids.

Live Nation posted a statement on Twitter saying, "We regret to inform you that the UTOPIA show, originally scheduled for July 28th at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt is cancelled."

"Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the show could not be built in the desert due to complicated production constraints. We acknowledge that the news is unfortunate and that it is not what any of us had hoped would happen, Live Nation said in the statement.

The concert's future has been up in the air ever since it was announced this month. Last week, the Egyptian artists' union had its license canceled due to "strange rituals" that Scott conducted during his performances. On social media, numerous Egyptians demanded that the concert be called off using the hashtag "#Ban_Travis_Scott_Concert" in Arabic.

Despite the postponement, Scott expressed confidence that a Pyramids concert will take place in the future and declared that the record will still be released on Thursday at midnight.

Egypt at the Pyramids will happen, but only after careful planning and demand. They simply need some time to settle on the grounds, Scott wrote in a tweet.

A grand jury in the US decided this month not to indict Scott for the 2021 Astroworld Festival, which resulted in 10 fatalities and hundreds of injuries as the crowd surged during the rapper's performance in Houston, Texas.

Legal actions have been taken against the performer as well as other event producers including Live Nation. Allegations that the festival's preparation and promotion were negligent and led to the deaths have been refuted by the defendants.
