Members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Central Region have welcomed the reinstatement of the First Vice Chairman of the NPP of the region, Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi.

According to them, the coming back of Mr. Ewusi to the NPP would help to restructure the NPP in the region.
"We are happy that our selfless and hardworking member of the NPP has come back again to support the effective organization of the activities of the NPP in the region because we need him and also like him so much. We are making these statements to the general public because Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi has done a lot to develop the structure of the party at the regional level before that unfortunate suspension of him.
"And that we want to say on record that the absence of Mr. Horace Ekow Ewusi for these past years has affected the party in several ways and now that the National Executive Committee (NEC) had taken the bold decision to bring him back to the party, we are thanking God that he is coming to unite us again and bring peace to the party in the region," some of the jubilant supporters told journalists in an interview yesterday.
The National Executive Committee of the ruling NPP on April 11, 2022, lifted the indefinite suspension slapped on Mr. Ewusi.
His suspension has been converted to definite suspension which will be in coterminous with the tenure of the current Regional Executives of the party.
Mr. Ewusi was suspended by the party for allegedly grossly misconducting himself.
The decision of his suspension was taken on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, by the Regional Executive Committee when they met at Cape Coast to consider the recommendations made by the Regional Disciplinary Committee after it inquired into the allegations leveled against him by one Edward Okraku Adum.
The Regional Disciplinary Committee chaired by Prof. I.K Sam-Amoah had recommended to the Regional Executive Committee to suspend Mr.Ewusi from his position indefinitely.
Other members of the committee were Madam Theresa Adam-Gyamfi and Madam Sarah Naana Arthur, Lawyer Frederick Selby is a member and also a Secretary of the Committee.
The Disciplinary Committee had contended in its report that Mr. Ewusi failed to appear before it for a hearing despite providing him the platform to speak to issues at stake.
However, a fresh letter from the National Executive Committee of the party dated April 11, 2022, and signed by the General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu announced the lifting of the suspension.
The letter read that “I write to inform you that at a meeting by the National Executive Committee of the party held on April 12, 2022, the Committee, by the party’s Dispute and Grievances Procedure, received a report of the National Disciplinary Committee on your petition regarding the indefinite suspension you were given by the Central Regional Executive Committee.
“After extensive deliberation on the Report of the Regional Disciplinary Committee, the National Executive Committee had unanimously decided to in line with the Disciplinary Committee recommendations to lift your indefinite suspension and convert it into definite suspension.
“The National Executive Committee decides that the indefinite suspension shall be coterminous with the tenure of office of the current Regional Executives. Accordingly, the lifting of the suspension in its entirety shall be effective on the day the Central Regional holds its 2022 Annual Delegates Conference.”
Speaking in an interview with Soireenews.com, the scores of the friends, sympathizers, and family members of Mr. Ewusi including the concerned supporters of the NPP in the Central Region expressed happiness about the way and manner the national leadership of the NPP handle the matter with fairness and transparency.
According to them, although the members of the committee of the national leadership of the NPP have not handled the matter with speed, they thanked them for taking the current decision to reinstate Mr. Ewusi.
They stressed that their investigations have revealed that all the allegations leveled against him by the Central Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr totally without merit.
The supporters of the NPP in the region stated that the absence of Mr. Ewusi has affected the fortunes of the NPP in the region, adding that such a situation has also affected the party winning massively in the region in the 2020 general elections.
In this process, the supporters of the party called on Mr. Kutin Jnr to render an apology to Mr. Ewusi for tarnishing his reputation to ensure the unity of the party in the region.
For his party, Mr. Ewusi expressed his profound gratitude to the National Executive Committee of the NPP for reinstating him into the party and promised to forgive those who planned to tarnish his reputation.
"For now what l can say simply as my messages to the rank and file of the party is that peace and unity is the only way to break the 8.
The visibly joyful Ewusi called on supporters of the governing NPP to be united as the party prepares itself for its primaries and the 2024 general election.
He stressed that the mantra ‘Breaking the Eight’ can only be achieved if the leadership and supporters of the party work in harmony and resist the misleading information about their members.
