Tension is seriously brewing in the various electoral areas within the Dormaa West, East, and Central Districts of the Bono Region, following the current unannounced electric power outages popularly known as "Dumsor' by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Volta River Authority (VRA).
The information available to Soireenews.com indicates that all the transformers at the substations in these three districts have developed faults, making the entire three districts experience a total blackout of electric power from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, till Thursday, April 7, 2022.
The residents lamented that from Tuesday, April 5, 2022, till Thursday, April 7, 2022, there is a total blackout of the electronic power in the areas within the three districts in the region.
They added that the situation has put the residents into a state of insecurity and panic adding that their businesses are reeling under the impact of the current unannounced power outages.
The aggrieved residents who are contemplating staging a massive demonstration against the government over the electric power fluctuations attributed the unpleasant situation to poor generation and distribution of power services including poor maintenance culture of the various transformers stationed in the sub-stations in Berekum and Nsapor-Krotia and some of the areas within the three districts.
"Some gaps have been left in procedures to keep the power on and that has to be addressed and sealed.... generation and distribution of power services must be enhanced, customers interest must be valued and should remain paramount at all the time
I will like to think that maintenance of a transformer should be a regular, everyday, and normal routine...why do you wait until there is a breakdown of the first transformer before checks are made on the second standby generator that can switch the power on when there is a problem...if there were regular checks these long delays may be avoided...
"People then turn to blame the government of the day when they ought not to.... because something simply may be wrong about how maintenance procedures are carried out and managed in the generation, distribution, and supply of power," the residents noted in a heated argument.

The cold store operators at Adobo, Drobo, Sampa, Berekum, and Nsapor-Krotia in the Bono Region who use electricity for their operations lamented that they are beginning to feel the impact of the erratic power supply.
According to the operators, they are gradually losing their business.
They said they have had to dispose of hundreds of cartons of spoilt fish due to an unreliable power supply.
A cold store operator is known as Vidah Kumi narrated her ordeal and indicated that "We [Cold store operators] use electricity in our work."
