CAR has made Bitcoin legal tender.

The cryptocurrency Bitcoin has been designated as legal cash in the Central African Republic (CAR).

After El Salvador, it is the second country to do so.

President Faustin Archange Touadera signed a bill into law making bitcoin legal tender alongside the CFA franc after members of parliament unanimously endorsed the measure.

According to a presidential official, the move put the CAR on the map of the world's most daring and visionary nations.

In recent years, the landlocked country, which is one of the poorest in the world, has been ravaged by a catastrophic military conflict.
