A 50-year old businessman, Mr Kofi Owusu has been installed as the new chief of Kodiekrom Traditional Area in the Oforikrom Municipality of Ashanti Region.

He goes by stool name Nana Kofi Owusu I, and succeeds his late Uncle, Nana Appiah I, who died 4 years ago.

Kodiekrom is located at a minute drive from Kotei Deduako in the Oforikrom Municipality, but traditionally it's under the jurisdiction of Asante Mampong traditional land ruled by Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene.

His nomination, endorsement and final installation, which was unanimously approved by the 'Bretuo' royal family and the entire King makers after careful analysis, is considered one of the most peaceful chieftaincy ceremonies held in recent times in the area.

 Nana Kofi Owusu I, swore the oath of allegiance to Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Omanhene Chief of Mampong traditional land, amidst drumming and dancing.

 Before the swearing in, all the sub chiefs of Mampong traditional land advised him says, they  are all witnesses to his benevolence and the love he have for his people, "we encourage you to continue and devotedly support your community with hard work and dedication to enable develop and rewrite the good name of Kodiekrom in the Ashanti history likewise those days" they  added.

In a message, the Omanhene of  Mampong Traditional Land, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who installed the new chief, advised him to use his knowledge and expertise gained over the years in his private life to help address the challenges confronting the area and raise the status of the community so as to attract investors.

The Omanhene noted that, no meaningful development could take place when the entire community is disunited.

He, therefore, urged the new chief to bring his knowledge on board to unite all the families and the entire community to fast-track development in the area despite the initial setbacks.

In his remarks, Nana Kofi Owusu I, expressed gratitude to the Omanhene, Queenmother, King Makers and Heads of all the 'Bretuo' royal family and the entire community for the honour they have done to him.

He noted that his peaceful installation and the support demonstrated by the good people of Kodiekrom was a clear indication of the love and trust the people in the community had for him, and pledged to make educational developments his topmost priority.

He therefore encouraged the people of Kodiekrom to support him to discharge his duties effectively.

"We must accept to collaborate together for one common goal to enable transform our living conditions better", he emphasized.
