Bono Region: Cop ‘accidentally’ shot dead  by colleague

A member of the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) of the Bono Regional Police, Corporal Rexford Amoako, has allegedly been shot and killed accidentally by one of his colleagues.

According to the police, the RDF was deployed from Sunyani last Monday for highway patrol duties within Dormaa.

However, during the operation, a member of the team allegedly fired his gun accidentally which killed Corporal Amoako in the Diabaa Forest in the Dormaa West District. 

The incident was confirmed by the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong.

He said investigation had begun to ascertain the actual cause of the tragic incident. 

"An investigation has begun to establish what actually took place and further developments shall be communicated to the public," Chief Inspector Oppong stated

Meanwhile, eight suspects arrested for their involvement in the clash between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District last Saturday were today put before a Sunyani Circuit Court.

They are Ali Musah, alias Buge; Lonfintey Sansah, Mohammed Osman, alias Mba, and Kwasi Sam.

The rest are Oppong Johnson, Abubakar Sulemana, Fuseini Mohammed and Musah Sule.

Per reports from 'Graphiconline', while Musah was charged with an attempt to commit murder contrary to Section 48 of the Criminal Act, 1960 (Act 29), the others were charged with causing unlawful damage.
