Students studying under ripped off classroom

Authorities of the Bolga Nkwanta M/A Basic School at the Atebubu-Amantin District of the Bono East region are appealing to the government to renovate the school.

According to them, the roofing of the school was ripped off by a strong wind during rainfall somewhere in 2018 but the damages are yet to be repaired.

This unfortunate incident has left students of the school, from Primary Class 1 to Primary Class 2 to study under trees leaving them at the mercy of the weather.

Authorities of the school revealed that they have sent numerous petitions through the traditional authorities to the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly seeking assistance in roofing the school but such petitions, have fallen on the deaf ears of the Assembly.

They further disclosed that teaching and learning activities have seen huge setbacks in the past month as a result of the rainy season.

"When it rains, students do not come to school and when it becomes cloudy when school is in session, we have to close them to avoid any unforeseen misfortunes" authorities of the school told our reporter.

They also made mention of the fact that the school is located near a bush which as a result have attracted snakes to the school premises on three different occasions.

The negligence of the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Assembly couples with circumstances beyond their control has made authorities of the Bolga Nkwanta M/A Basic School and residents of the town appeal to the central government to come to their aid in roofing the school on their behalf.

They further appealed to the general public to also come to their aid by providing a conducive environment which will, in turn, enhance teaching and learning activities at the Bolga Nkwanta M/A Basic School.
