Birim North DCE suffers Vote of No Confidence

The Birim North District Chief Executive, Honorable Raymond Nana Damptey has suffered a vote of no confidence in the hands of 42 chiefs not to be retained as the DCE of Birim North District Assembly, as he recorded only 4 votes out of 42.

The vote of no Confidence took place at the New Abirem Chief Palace to determine the fate of the outgoing DCE, Raymond Nana Damptey based on the powers vested in the chiefs by the President of Ghana to choose MMDCEs across the country in the second term of Nana Addo's administration.

The 42 chiefs from the Birim North District and led by the chief of New Abirem, Obrempong Kwasi Amoh Kyeretwie I, conveyed a meeting to cast a vote of No Conference on the District Chief Executive, Hon Raymond Nana Damptey.

Honorable Raymond Nana Damptey, Birim North District Chief Executive.

Speaking to the press after the votes, Obrempong Kwasi Amoh Kyeretwie I, opined that the current District Chief Executive doesn't deserve a vote from the chiefs as he has repeatedly demonstrated gross disrespect towards chiefs in the district since he took over the seat.

He lamented that the chiefs have really suffered many impediments at the hands of the DCE, and his existence as the District Chief Executive is a threat to the chiefs as he has led many brutalities to most of the chiefs and his Rambo style of leadership may be chaotic to the district which translated into the four votes out of 42 chiefs.

Obrempong stated, that chiefs are not to hold political power but they have the right to select the best people to lead the district, in order to have developed in their individual communities.
