In addition to describing the singer of "Love On Top" as a "global cultural icon," the organization said that her "Renaissance World tour" from last year was "the highest-grossing tour in history for both an R&B artist and a Black female artist." The singer has also written music that has topped the charts in multiple formats.

Beyoncé made history by being the first Black female artist to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 with a country song with the release of her track "Texas Hold 'Em," which was also described as "the first song this year to reach No. 1 in the US and globally on all major sales/streaming platforms."

Beyond producing art that has inspired people all over the world, Beyoncé has spent the last ten years helping communities in need. "Beyoncé embodies the quintessential modern-day artist innovator."

According to iHeartMedia, an artist who "continuously contributes to pop culture and the music industry" is given the Innovator Award. Chance the Rapper, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, and Taylor Swift are among the previous winners.
