Luis Suarez has agreed on terms with Atletico Madrid to play at the Wanda Metropolitano for two seasons, Mundo Deportivo revealed.

The Barcelona player was discarded by the new Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, as he set his sights on playing for Juventus with personal terms earlier, agreed, however, the 33-year old as a result of EU passport challenges had to find a new club.

"He's (Suarez) not on our shortlist because of the time it takes bureaucratically to obtain a passport," Juve's sporting director, Fabio Paratici, told Sky Sport Italia before the Bianconeri played Sampdoria.

"When there was the chance for him to come, we looked into it and the citizenship issue was an obstacle.

"It wasn't possible to cut the time, so we had to pull out."

Suarez has a year left to complete his current contract and interested teams have to fulfil Barca’s prize demand yet, Atletico Madrid were willing to accept the former Liverpool man only as a free agent.

Initially, Josep Bartomeu was not willing for the player to leave for free, but Marca reports that Barcelona and the Suarez’s lawyers met and appeared to have found a resolution to the player leaving the club in an agreement that would see variables included in the deal that see Barcelona benefit in some way from the move.
