Axim Police Crime Officer Has  Registered My Gun That I Use To Be Collecting Monies  From Illegal Miners! -Leader of galamsey gang declared wanted by police speaks from hideout
Kwame Ato Asare Ani, a ring leader of the galamsey gang
Kwame Ato Asare Ani, a ring leader of the galamsey gang declared wanted by the Ghana Police Service has broke silence by disclosing that the pump action gun he has been using to go to the illegal mining sites to collect monies from illegal miners on behalf of the police was registered for him by the police crime officer at Axim Police Station.

The young man detailed how some senior police officers in the Axim Police Station in the Nzema West Municipality of the Western Region have been sending him to extortion sprees n the illegal small scale mining sites in some communities within the municipality.
According to the videos which were in the possession of Soireenews.com, Kwame Ato Asare Ani was heard stating that it was one Crime Police Officer of Axim Police Station of Ghana Police Service who registered his pump action shotgun for him with the directive from the police to move from various illegal mining site-to-site to take monies from illegal miners and shared the bounties with the police officers.
In one of the videos, the young man detained that these uniform police officers of the Ghana Police Service who were captured in the current video which was trending on social media platforms were equally aware of their illegal operations in the illegal mining sites in the communities within the municipality.
He explained that the officers at Axim Police Station knew that the pump-action guns and other items they retrieved from them during  the clashed erupted between the police officers and them were seized from the illegal miners in their sites.
He justified that they have not committed any criminal offense, disclosing that these police officers were the ones who had wrongly tagged them as the criminals, ostensibly to cover up themselves for their illegal operations the police are doing together with his and accomplices to score their points.
The young man stated that he went into hiding after the current incident which has been captured the police officer because he fear that the police would kill him whenever they laid hand on him.
He stated clearly that they dared that "if anyone comes to can claim that they are criminals who had attacked him/her and taking his or her belongings away, he will surely come out from his hideout to prove their innocent.
"Even if the leadership of police administration of Ghana Police Service had heard what lam  saying in the videos from my hideout and they invited me to come l would make myself available to substantiate my statement," he said in a video.
According to him, he is not an armed robber as described by the Ghana Police Service but rather an informant to the police in the Axim area.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kevin Taylor on his Loud Silence TV, Ani said he has over the period of one year been working with the police as an informant and a liaison between the police and some illegal miners in the area.
He stated that aside collecting money from illegal miners on behalf of the police, he and his gang has also been providing security and fighting criminals in the area with the support and approval of the police.
But addressing the circumstance leading to his fallout with the police, Kwame Ani said he received a payment of GHC100,000.00 from some illegal miners but failed to deliver the money to the police after he felt being cheated by the police in previous deals.
“The people in the town I live in all know that I work with the police. Police officers troop to my house at least five times in a day just to come and receive monies. Sometimes they don’t leave if they don’t see me. I give them money all the time.
"The actual reason the police are after me is that they sent me to collect one billion (GH₵100,000.00) from a site at Kwakukrom but I refused to hand over the money to them. That is the reason why they are angry with me.
“I didn’t give the money because I felt cheated after working with them all this while. They were only giving me small sums of thousand or two thousand every time…
"It is because of the one billion I took and failed to give to them that they are accusing me of being a robber. But I am not an armed robber, nobody can prove that I have ever robbed their site. Sarfo (Axim Police Commander) told me to bring the one billion before they will release my car and other machines which they have seized,” he said
