The soft loans facility from Microfinance
and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) being authorized by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the affected traders in Akyem Oda main market fire disaster has rather been hijacked by non-victims who are perceived to be the leading supporters and members of the ruling New Patriotic (Party) in the area.

According to the information available to Soireenews.com, the loans facility were rather been given to the people who were not the victims of the recent fire disaster.

These criminal practices had angered market women at Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region to raise an alarm bell over the massive discrimination that rocked current disbursement of the loans by MASLOC and Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in the area.
The market women wearing readdress and red arm bands as well as headgears expressed their disappointment in Municipality Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central Municipal Assembly and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah for partial way of distribution of the soft loans given out by MASLOC and GEA.
According to them, the soft loans were authorized by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his visit to market after the Akyem Oda main market got burnt, but it was cleared that some leading members of the NPP have hijacked the loans facility.
They have ,therefore, called on government, NIB and other investigative services in the country to do a thorough investigation into the disbursement of the loans.
The women made the statement when they organised a crowded press conference to remember the fire disaster which has engulfed after the Oda Central market got burnt on 13th September 2021.
