The District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman District in the Eastern Region, Honourable Samuel Kwame Agyekum has stated that it is about time tourism potential in the area is uplifted and promoted for it to gain global recognition.

Speaking to a media launch of the Adomi International River festival 2022 at Atimpoku, Mr. Agyekum explained that festivals that are now well known in the country were a result of promotion and media publicity to gain the attention of festivals.

"It's all about promotion if you have good things and you do not advertise or make promotions on it, nobody is going to see or hear of it so it is our responsibility to advertise or promote the good things in Asuogyaman for people to hear of Asuogyaman because, if we don't promote it, nobody will hear of this upcoming festival so all that we are doing is part of the promotion of potentials in the district that is why we are calling on you to promote this festival for us " Mr. Agyekum stated.

On his part, the deputy director of tourism in the Eastern Region *Bertha Narkuor*  noted that the Adomi international River festival which will be celebrated in September will serve as a source of employment for the people in the district and the assembly since people from all over the continents will embrace the celebration.

He added that the district assembly should at least organize a day of training for those who will do business during the festival in other to host and have a cordial relationship with the people coming from different parts of the country.

"I bet you if they do it and do it well it's going to bring a lot of people here and it will create employment for a lot of youths and will promote tourism in the district as well " she stated.

She also urges the organizers of the festival to use the medium to make difference among festivals celebrated in the country and that it should be unique among others.

Speaking to Zumah Richard director of prestige media and organizer of the festival, he said since Water Sports Tourism is not practiced in Ghana, there is a need to celebrate it to compete with foreign countries in terms of tourism.

"When you come to Ghana, every day our tourism has been manifest, if not that then emancipation or Kwahu oo Kwahu, Easter festivals at some places or traditional festivals is like we don't introduce new tourism activities that's why we introduce Adomi international River festival since 2019" Mr. Zumah stated.

He, therefore, assured the general public of safety during the festival celebration which commences on 21st September 2022 to 24th September 2022.
