The Volta Caucus in Parliament have called for more police personnel in Sogakope and the entire Tongu District to augment the current security force in protecting residents in the area.

This follows the gruesome murder of the Assemblyman for the area, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli.

Addressing the Parliamentary Press Corps on the issue, Member of Parliament (MP) for South Tongu, Kwabena Woyome, in whose jurisdiction the incident happened said, the area is becoming increasingly insecure and unsafe for residents.

He noted that the Minister for the Interior and the Inspector General of Police must take action immediately, adding that the residents are justified in demanding the mass transfer of police officers in Sogakope, since there is a strong perception of their complicity in the crime.
