The South Tongu District Assembly in the Volta Region has placed a GH¢10,000.00 bounty on the head of the killers of the assembly member for the Sogakofe South electoral area, as part of plans to aid investigations into the issue.

The deceased assembly member, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli was purportedly murdered by a group of armed robbers at Toklopo near Sogakope in the early hours of Sunday, March 1.

Leading the South Tongu assembly to commiserate with the family of the deceased, the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, announced the reward for information leading to the arrest of those behind the horrific murder.

He called on elders in the community to quell the ensuing protests by engaging the youth to allow security officers to do their work.

“We will do our best to bring the perpetrators to book and we would not shield anybody so please speak to the youth not to act based on hearsay, since hear say can lead you astray."

The Regional Minister reiterated commitment by the security agencies to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Mr. Innocent Gbedzi, Assembly Member for Hlevi Toklokpo electoral area, said they were ready to assist the police in investigations and underlined the need for the police to respond swiftly to emergency situations.

“The police are doing their best yet it is not enough. In times of crime, we call on the police and they don’t respond on time. The crime ends and they rush to the scene most often, which is not the best," he lamented.

Torgbi Adeti II, the Adzahli family head commended the Regional Minister, the Assembly and Government for the support and pleaded with the police to go to every length help bring the perpetrators to book.
