Mikel Arteta’s has been sacked as manager of Arsenal after his side’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night at the Emirates.

The loss was the first time the Gunners have conceded four goals at home in a league cup encounter since November 1998 under Arsene Wenger.

Gabriel Jesus took the lead in the first half through a shambolic defending by the Gunners before Alexandre Lacazette levelled the scores 16 minutes to the first half.

Riyad Mahrez put the Citizens back ahead in the 54th minute after Runarsson mishandled Mahrez’s free-kick around the wall. It is the 14th time the Gunners have been eliminated from the quarter-final stage of the League Cup more times than any other side in the competition’s history and Arteta is yet to pick a win since December 12, 2020, when Arsenal won against Dundalk in the Europa League competition at the Aviva Stadium in Ireland.

Fans have called for his sack following the Gunners 15th position on the PL position with 14 points.
