Dénis Mukwege, a Nobel Peace Prize recipient from Congo, and Interior Minister Daniel Aselo have called for a halt to reported atrocities against ethnic Tutsis in the DRC.

Over the weekend, images of individuals with machetes seeking inshasa, and other major cities surfaced on social media.

Tutsis' whereabouts were also revealed through audio and video clips.

The attacks come as tensions between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda are growing.

Rwanda is accused by the Democratic Republic of Congo of supporting Congolese rebels, and all trade and cooperation agreements have been terminated.
