The residents of Dumasi, a sub-community of Bogoso in the Prestea Huni-Valley of the Western region have stormed the mining site of Future Global Resources for not adhering to their corporate social responsibility to the community as a mining company.

The mining company formerly Bogoso Golden Star Limited, now sold to Future Global Resources has been in existence in the town for about 25 to 30 years but has refused to perform their duties in the country as a mining company.

The residents said, the company has refused to offer them employment and has also destroyed their water bodies which as a result denied them potable drinking water.

According to them, they lack good roads and other social amenities which the company has turned blind eyes to.

Residents claim there has been several consultations, community engagement and many peaceful demonstrations between them and the now Future Global Resources but no progress has been made.

This led to a very horrible demonstration on Wednesday, July 29, 2021, by the residents burning some offices and documents belonging to the company and destroying their administration.

The situation compelled the police to give out fire from their arms sustaining injuries of two persons who are receiving treatment at the hospital.

The company has told their workers to stay home for the problems to be resolved.
