Angry Ghana youth chase away MP, throw water at him

In the Suame district, irate Ghanaian youth raced after a lawmaker while yelling insults at him and threw a sachet of water at him.

Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, the majority leader, visited the area to talk with locals about their issues, particularly the area's subpar infrastructure.

Some locals set up traffic barriers last week to demonstrate against the condition of the roadways.

When Mr. Mensah-Bonsu was spotted in the neighborhood, a group of primarily young artisans immediately went to the scene and shouted "away, away!"

Later, the agitation was calmed down by the police.

The youth claimed that even though Mr. Mensah-Bonsu represents them in parliament, he breaks his promises to fix the roads. As a result, they chased him away.

Mr. Mensah-Bonsu said he is not worried about the incident because the youth would have acted the same to any government official, not just him.
