The Council of State race is getting tight as contestants are lobbying their ways in order to win a slot into the highest executive body as the elections approach steadily.

The newly created Savannah region would have its maiden Representative to the Council as four (4) people have filed to join the race as all the sixteen (16) Regions of Ghana go to the polls to elect a representative each to form the Council of Advisors to the President of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

In the Savannah Region, the contestants on the Electoral Commission (EC) notice of poll includes Mr. Adam Zakariah age 65, Chief Jawula Mahamadu Nurudeen age 71, Mr. Mohammed Tohir age 42, and Mr. Mohammed Adam Abdul 46 years.

The race is crucial as some of the contestants are very popular in certain activities such as chieftaincy, social development, and education in Gonjaland before the area was carved out of the Northern Region as Savannah Region in the year 2018.

There are seven (7) Municipalities and Districts Assemblies that would partake in the elections by nominating two (2) members each.

There are West Gonja Municipality, Salaga South Municipality, Bole/ Bamboi district, Sawla/Tuna/ Kalba district, North Gonja district, Central Gonja district, and North-East district.
