Sean Davison, a South African, was released from home jail after being convicted guilty of premeditated murder in 2019 for assisting three persons in killing themselves.

"I don't regret a single thing I did," he said, according to the Times Live news site.

In September 2018, the 59-year-old was arrested in connection with the death of his friend in 2013, who had been quadriplegic following a car accident.

He was sentenced to a total of eight years, five of which were suspended.

In South Africa, assisted suicide and euthanasia are prohibited.

Davison, who was born in New Zealand, is a forensic scientist and the founder of DignitySA, a pro-death organization.
