The event will commemorate the artistic, academic, and economic significance of books in national development. This mini book festival will include a number of fun activities with the main goal of highlighting the enjoyable aspects of books.

These include dramatic reading, read and play, read and bounce, an inter-schools puzzle contest, author-reader connect, read aloud with icons, read aloud while blowing up a balloon, and a reading carnival.

One of the highlights of the Akra Book Party is a bookdate with the renowned singer Amandzeba from Ghana. He will read aloud and have a conversation with attendees throughout this session.

A few of the legend's songs will also be performed during this portion. "A book-art experience with Dede Padiki (of GWR Paintt-a-thon fame)", a book reading session with renowned journalist Selma Alhassan, an audio book talk with Ama Dadson, and an author and book display are among the other events scheduled for the day.

The event's Special Guest of Honor is Hon. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, a current member of parliament representing the Ablekuma South Constituency and a former mayor of Accra.

The inaugural Akra Book Party, in contrast to other book parties, will have a literary conversation as its opening ceremony.

Authors and other industry figures will guide attendees in their analysis of the question, "Is the book industry rightly positioned to contribute to the creative economy?"

The panelists are: Emmanuel Nyarko, MD, Town & Country Books; Ama Dadson, CEO, AkooBooks Audio Ltd.; Joseph Baffuour Gyenfi, Executive Director, CopyGhana; Carl Ampah, National Programme Officer; and Obaa Panyin Demay, Nyamedze Onna.

With assistance from the Ghana National Association of Private Schools, Town & Country Books Services, Yumvita Ghana, Osu Children's Library Fund, and Read Ghana Read Consult, Akra Book Party 2024 is anticipated to welcome more than 500 attendees. It costs nothing to participate.
