The head coach of the Ghana National team, Charles Akonnor prefers Thomas Partey to stay at Atletico amid Arsenal links.

Partey’s move to the Gunners keeps intensifying as the Premier League edges close.

According to the former Asante Kotoko coach, Champions League football is guaranteed as a player of Rojiblancos, unlike Arsenal where they are rarely seen competing in the elite European tournament for top teams.

He reiterated that the Champions League is a yardstick for assessing player’s performance and making key achievements in a player’s career therefore the midfielder should reconsider his decision of joining the Gunners.

"Arsenal fans will kill me for saying this," he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

"Honestly, I wouldn't want him to move to Arsenal because, with Atletico, he will always play Champions League football.

"His position is guaranteed and he will always play.

"With Arsenal, I'm not too sure.

"I hope whatever he asks for Atletico will be able to pay."

Mikel Arteta has acquired Willian from Chelsea to bolster his Arsenal team who will be appearing in the upcoming Europa League following their win against Chelsea to lift the FA Cup trophy.

Aubameyang is reported to have extended his contract and so the 27-year old Ghanaian’s service is key to Arteta as he seeks to strengthen his midfield for next month’s league opener.
