Despite the affords by the Ghana Health Service, Ministry of Education's massive campaign on social distancing in schools in Ghana, inadequate furniture in some districts in the Ahafo region is affecting the fight against the spread of the pandemic.

Soireenews.com reporter Sulley Dramani's visit to some schools in Asutifi South, Asunafo North, and Asunafo South District suggested that about 2 to 3 pupils in a class share one desk.

The situation has made it difficult to fight against the spread of the pandemic. Although no school in the region has recorded any case of the plague, the need to practice the safety protocols is essential.

Anthony Ato Rockson, the Asutifi South District  PRO of the Ghana Education Service who also confirmed the situation said they rely on nose masks to protect the children.

The Asunafo South District PRO of Ghana Education service, Jennifer Osei also admitted the furniture deficit in the schools. She said despite the Asunafo District Assembly's distribution of PPEs and Chairs during the 2020 electioneering campaign, they still need more.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Asunafo Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Mr. Samuel Sarfo Antwi has appealed to various Assemblies, NGOs, and other companies to come to their aid.
