A Tunisian military court has ordered the incarceration of a journalist who claims the army refused to obey the president's instructions to shut down the strong UGTT labor union's headquarters.

Salah Attia compared Tunisia's current position to that of former authoritarian leader Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who was overthrown in an uprising barely over a decade ago.

Mr. Attia is accused of "endangering the troops" and "inciting violence in Tunisia."

President Kais Saied's critics claim that since assuming office last July, he has been attempting to cement one-man rule.
