This call to action coincides with Ghana's recent sporadic power shortages. 2015 saw major power outages in Ghana, which greatly irritated the populace.

Because of the unstable power supply at the time, Ms. Nelson organized a massive demonstration against the John Mahama administration under the hashtag #DumsorMustStop.

Back in 2015, IMANI Ghana, a well-known policy think tank, was crucial to the protest's success. Many well-known Ghanaians participated in the vigil, which raised awareness of the detrimental consequences power outages have on day-to-day living.

To address the dumsor concerns, Ashanti region people conducted a nocturnal vigil in Kumasi on April 17, 2024.

Hundreds of demonstrators voiced their displeasure with the erratic power supply and frequent, unexpected blackouts by participating in a march against the problems with the electrical supply.

The way the government has handled the crisis has drawn condemnation from citizens and energy professionals alike.

Reminiscent of their partnership from 2015, Ms. Nelson stated in a Monday social media message that she is awaiting an invitation from IMANI to participate in the vigil.

"IMANI Ghana, can we mobilize another vigil? I've been anticipating your outreach, just as you did years ago (your team greatly contributed to the success of our demonstration). I'm extending my own outreach. The NPP and its leadership, including @NAkufoAddo, have disregarded the concerns of Ghanaians. DUMSORMUSTSTOP," she remarked.
