A charity hospital in the Tamale Metropolitan area in the Northern region is set to launch its 30th Anniversary of the Hospital in September 2021.

There was a media briefing on Saturday, August 14, 2021, on the activities planned for the celebration.

The hospital is also popularly known as Doctor Choggu.

The anniversary would be celebrated concurrently with the remembrance of the founder Dr David Abdulai demise in the last five-years.

The Managing Director of the clinic, Hajia Mariama Alhassan Dokurugu said the facility has been serving humanity at no cost for 30 years though it has not been an uneasy journey but worth celebrating to honour the selfless founder.

The facility has been offering free medical service to the public, serving daily meals to mentally ill patients on the streets and organizing Christmas get-togethers for the public and the less privileged.

The facility share foodstuffs and second-hand clothing with the public. The clinic was established in 1991 and has been offering free medical services to the public for both in-patients and out-patients.

Hajia Mariama said the 30th anniversary and 5th anniversary of Dr Abdulai Choggu would be launch on the 25th September 2021 at the Shekinah Clinic at Gurugu in Tamale of the Northern region.

She, therefore, called on stakeholders and the media to help to make the double combine anniversaries a success.

She used the opportunity to clarify issues pertaining to the handling of the clinic and its operations.

“We are still offering free medical services and giving free clothing to orphans and the less privilege, which we will continue doing because that was what the founder was doing,” Hajia Mariama added.

She said the current staff are committed to helping the humanitarian work of the clinic.
