Twenty communities have benefited from a new borehole project in Bunkprugu/Nakpaduri District of the North East Region

The Bunkpurugu/Nakpanduri District Assembly of the North East region has over weekends handed over a total of 20 boreholes to twenty communities in the area.

The communities which were carefully selected based on substantial demand received a borehole each and a repairs toolbox.

Nyamwai, Kajagook, Sakbauk, Basarik Namoar,,, and Pagnatiik are some of the beneficiary communities.

The rest are Konchian Gberuk, Tusuk down, Dunglaar Gberuk, Ngaanmah Gberuk, Nanpontbauk, Nabulik, Sayeegu, Naanyung, Tambiinmung, Bimbagu Lamakara, Badilong, and the Kambatiak Saanbona Community.

The District assembly through its Development partner, Lifetime Wells also trained seven (7) water and sanitation officers for each beneficiary community to ensure regular maintenance of the boreholes.

The project which costs about GH₵145, 000 according to the Assembly is funded by the District Assembly and supported by Lifetime Wells, an NGO working in the District.

This was made known to reporter Bederen by the  District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bunkpurugu / Nakpanduri, Honourable Joseph Louknaan in a handing over ceremony at Dunglaar Gberuk.

"Let no one deceive you that the Npp government has no hand in the 20 boreholes I am handing over across the district this week, you cried to us that you needed portable drinking water and as a listening government through the assembly, I am here today to hand over what u asked for" he continued by saying that the 3 months contract was awarded in December 2021 and completed late February 2022.

According to him the  District Assembly funded the drilling of the boreholes whiles its development partner, Lifetime Wells trained the water and sanitation officers (Committee members) and also provided the repairs toolboxes.

He used the medium to appeal to the community members to help the trained water and sanitation officers to keep proper hygiene around the boreholes and also ensure the boreholes are not misused by children.

He assured all communities without electricity and motorable roads that the NPP government is committed to fixing all those challenges by 2024.

Honourable Joseph also appealed for peace within the district, he noted that a place can only develop if there is peace, he, therefore, advised all opinion leaders to educate their people to live in peace with one another.


The beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to the Government through the district chief executive and pledged to be development agents.
