19-year-old boy sentenced to 6years in jail for burning Police station 

The accused person, Kwaku, pleaded guilty and said he had an issue with the rider of the burnt tricycle and decided to teach him a lesson which made him set fire on the tricycle.

Goaso circuit court presided over by His Lordship Charles Kwesi Acheampong has sentenced 19 -year-old Kwaku to six-year imprisonment for causing unlawful damage to the  Asunafo South District police Commander's office at Kukuom.

The police prosecutor, Chief Inspector Truth Kofi Hukporti told the court that on the 8th April 2021 around 12 am, the accused person intentionally set fire on a tricycle that has been parked at the police station which resulted in burning many properties at the station.

The accused person pleaded guilty and said he had an issue with the rider of the burnt tricycle and decided to teach him a lesson that resulted in the unfortunate incident.

The Court convicted him with his own plea and jailed him for 6years with hard labour.

 Also, the court has asked the accused person to pay a compensation of GH15,000.00 to the owner of the tricycle and an amount of GH3600.00 to the Ghana Police Service, Kukuom for causing unlawful damage to the service.
