17 communities in the Sunyani East Constituency have been earmarked to benefit from the cocoa solar project.

The project was initiated by former President John Agyekum Kuffour under Ghana COCOBOD, to extend electricity to cocoa growing areas across the country, as they await their connection to the national grid. The initiative however came to a halt due to change in government.

Member of Parliament for Sunyani East Constituency, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh revived the initiative following government's approval for a total of 17 communities in his constituency to benefit from the project. The Communities are , Daadom, Adedease, Besease, Asamoakrom, Asikasu, Yeboahkrom, Benu Ano, Nsagobesa, Asuogya and Nwowasu(Kramokrom).

The rest are Boreso, Koo Kyere, Mahamakrom, Addaikrom, KooNsowa, Kwaku Poolo and Jinijini.

A team of technicians from Accra in charge of the project have visited the under-listed communities to facilitate the setting up of the Solar panels.

6 out of the seventeen 17 communities have been marked for setup under the first phase of the project, after which the second phase will also commence.
