Lewandowski celebrate goal

Bayern Munich will play Barcelona in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

The Bavarians advanced with a 7-1 aggregate after defeating Chelsea by 4-1 at the Allianz Arena.

The home side were already ahead in numbers after their 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge in February.

Lewandowski quickly opened the scores as early as the 10-minute with a penalty.

The Bayern forward was played through on goal, looked to round Caballero but was caught down. The flag was up for offside, but VAR had a look as Emerson played him on. Caballero was shown the yellow card as Lewandowski put Bayern ahead.

The strike was Robert Lewandowski's 52nd goal in all competitions this season, the most of any player in Europe's top five leagues. He has also scored 25 goals in 20 home appearances this season.

The Bavarians doubled their lead 14-minutes later through Ivan Perisic.

It was a beautiful four against two Chelsea defenders. Lewandowski at the edge of the box squared right for Perisic in acres. With so much space ahead of the Croatian, he slotted it past Caballero, with too much ease.

Hudson Odoi pulled one back in the 28-minute but the goal was ruled out after been spotted by the assistant referee.

Few minutes into the break, Tammy Abraham converted a spilled ball not handled well by Neur after Emerson found a yard and lashed one across goal from the left.

Chelsea held on for a while as the home team squandered a few opportunities. Tolisso scored Bayern’s third following another Lewandowski's delivery from the left. He drifted in easily between Emerson and Zouma, who weren't on their toes and controlled a finish goalwards from six yards; Caballero got a touch, but it ended up in the net.

Lewandowski bulleted home a header at the far post to further extend Bayern's advantage.
